Remember the days of yearly family road trips? Aside from the whining, screaming, and fighting kids, not too many people would trade them for anything in the world. With proper planning, they can be much more enjoyable today than they were even 10 years ago. Many of the most precious and memorable events happened on… the way to the destination. Does anyone remember those days or has it been too long since spending time with the family was the point of vacations, not just arriving at the destination? With the recent dust-up regarding the TSA, I think it’s time to re-think how we travel, where we travel and why we travel.
While this video is 20 years before my time, take a look. I’m not sure when the point of vacations became “spend as much money as you can” but that can be easily changed. We need to take our families back. Take the time to actually spend (and enjoy) our times together.
